Scanned images from a diary of an old Japanese man who lived on Powell street.
In the spring of 2011, the second year communication design students at Emily Carr University of Art + Design were presented with an Identity Branding Project. In groups of four, they had to research the cultural history of a specific area in Vancouver and design an identity for that part of town. Our group chose Old Japantown, a four-block span in the downtown eastside. This blog tracks the design process of Craig Fleisch, Lindsey Kenler, Hanna Stefan, and Yannick Ploeger.
